"During the last week several meetings have been held at the school house for the children and a number of them want to be baptized, among them Henry and Herbert. [Born April 6, 1896.] Though I think they are rather young to fully comprehend what baptism means still I do not want to hold them back. I spoke to Mother [Ellen G. White] and also Eld. Berriens about them and they seem to think that we ought not to forbid them going forward. What do you say about it? The baptism is to be held the last Sabbath in December. In the meantime Eld. B. is holding instruction meetings for all the candidates and I am doing my best to help them to know what it means to them. I feel thankful that their hearts are inclined to do what is right. I hope you pray for them daily, dear, they need our prayers to help them put away what there is of selfishness and unloveliness in them." (W. C. White answered from Boulder, Colo. February 1, 1906)
D. A. Delafield writes: "I know of a sister in Pomona, Cal. Mrs. Amy Cathcart, who was baptized by Elder James White when she was eight years old. This dear sister is one of our close friends and a devoted Adventist. She is now well over eighty years of age." (D. A. Delafield, Pastor of Pomana, Calif church, 1943-44)
