You asked if Ellen G. White did not plant the big cedar tree out in front of Elmshaven? I am of the opinion that she did not. I do not know where the story had its origin, that she planted that tree. I am inclined to feel that there have grown up some traditions about Elmshaven. While the property was not under our control, it was difficult for us to give very much guidance or very much control to what was said. I think that the sign on the tree should be removed. I believe it was one of the trees there on the property when she purchased Elmshaven in 1900. (Arthur L. White)
