You inquire in regard to the apparent discrepancy of sixty years in the record concerning Terah and Abram. You will find this explained in Volume 1 of the new Bible Commentary, page 288.
It is evident that the statement in Gen. 11:26 does not mean that all three sons of Terah were born when Terah was seventy years old. Apparently his oldest son was born at that time, but Abraham is mentioned first since he is the one who became the most important in connection with the history of Israel. Terah evidently was 130 years old when Abraham was born. The Bible record evidently does not give us all the details. (Bessie Mount)
