Sister White's counsel is found in MM, p. 308, where she says, "We need a sanitarium and a school in the vicinity of New York City, and the longer the delay in the securing of these, the more difficult it will become." That which follows on page 308 is more of a description of the type of place. As a usual thing principles are set before us in the Spirit of Prophecy counsels which should govern us in the selection of sites for our institutions. Very rarely did the Lord select a particular place for us. The Spirit of Prophecy has never been given to take the place of our study or initiative, our hard work, or our faith. We have the pattern set before us, and it is for us to endeavor to fit the work to that pattern. In the matter of institutions one site might be acceptable, or another site might be acceptable, providing the main features which are set before us are taken into account in the choice of such a place.
